CEPI – Study on intellectual property in the European audiovisual sector
On February 17th, during CEPI’s Board meeting at the Berlin International Film Festival, CEPI released a new study Intellectual Property and the Contemporary European Audiovisual Industries, authored by Christopher Meir (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) and Petar Mitric (University of Copenhagen). The study explores how evolving business models—particularly the growing dominance of global streaming platforms—are reshaping intellectual property (IP) rights in the European audiovisual sector, creating both challenges and opportunities for independent producers.
