Agora EU – The audiovisual and media sectors operate under very different models: dedicated policies and resources are needed
A joint statement dated April 22, 2026, signed by representatives of the various audiovisual sectors highlights how the film and audiovisual sectors, on the one hand, and the media and press sectors, on the other, operate under different economic and regulatory models, and therefore require distinct policies and dedicated resources.
Hence the proposal to establish two separate funding streams, define budget allocations in advance for the entire duration of the multiannual financial framework, and ensure that distribution criteria are fair, objective, and transparent.
A clearer and more balanced structure is essential to ensure stability, avoid uncertainties linked to annual negotiations, and support diversity, competitiveness, and sustainability.
All signatory associations, including CEPI, confirm their willingness to cooperate with EU institutions to ensure the effectiveness of the AgoraEU and MEDIA+ programmes.
