Join statement on AI Act Implementation measures
CEPI, together with a broad coalition of European authors, artists, publishers, and producers, has openly criticized the GPAI Code of Practice and Guidelines linked to the AI Act, deeming them insufficient to protect copyright. In their joint statement, the signatories denounce that the new rules favor generative AI model providers who use protected works without authorization. The cultural and creative industries — representing 7% of the EU’s GDP and around 17 million jobs — are therefore at risk of being disadvantaged. The organizations are calling on the European Commission to review the implementation of Article 53 of the AI Act to ensure genuine transparency and protection of rights.
