Package of laws on Copyright published by the European Commission
The package of laws on Copyright and a communication on the regulation of the Digital Single Market are published by the European Commission. The issues related to the “principle of territoriality”, the transparency of contracts and remuneration of authors with particular reference to the updating of the SatCab Directive are confirmed as central. Below are links to the published documents:
- Communication – Promoting a fair, efficient and competitive European copyright-based economy in the Digital Single Market
- Regulation laying down rules on the exercise of copyright and related rights applicable to certain online transmissions of broadcasting organisations and retransmissions of television and radio programmes (inspired to the Sat/Cab Directive)
- Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market
- Concerning authors’ remuneration Chapter 3 of the Digital Single Market Directive, art 14-15-16.
- Regulation on the cross-border exchange between the Union and third countries of accessible format copies of certain works and other subject-matter protected by copyright and related rights for the benefit of persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled
- Directive on certain permitted uses of works and other subject-matter protected by copyright and related rights for the benefit of persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled and amending Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society
The regulation (inspired by the Sat/Cab Directive) extends the territoriality principle on online (IPTV) and Catch-Up TV.
With regards to this and other measures, APT, through CEPI, will continue to emphasize its disagreement with press releases and in a next meeting with the Italian Representative in Brussels Giovanni Pugliese.
