Matilde Bernabei
Matilde Bernabei was born in Florence in 1954, but moved to Rome with her family at a young age, where she soon started working, immediately showing a free and ambitious temperament that allowed her at just 20 years old to write for the weekly magazine ‘Panorama’; in 1976 she joined Asip, a company active in technical cooperation with developing countries where two years later she was appointed General Secretary.
Matilde gained experience in the international field and in 1980 joined Montedison, one of the most important strategic groups in the country. Thanks to her practical attitude, at only 26 she became the youngest Italian executive earning in 1984 the position of New Business Strategy Director of the newly formed company me.ta, a holding company of the Montedison group for the services sector.
In 1987 she took on the position of General Manager of ‘Il Messaggero’, one of the most important Italian publishing groups. But her most important work challenge was yet to come: in 1992 she founded a television production company, giving life to Lux Vide, of which he has been President for 12 years. Among the series realized “The Bible”, “War and Peace” co-produced with seven countries and “Coco Chanel” which was nominated for Best Miniseries at the 2009 Emmy Awards.
In 2019, she was appointed Cavaliere del Lavoro (Knight of Labor).
