Claudio Cappon

An honor graduate in Business at the University of Rome class 1974, he specialized in Finance and Business Strategy.
His professional career took place in the Italian public industry in different sectors (iron and steel, construction, services) always holding important managerial roles. He was Director of Autostrade and Aeroporti di Roma and, in 1995/98, General Manager and CEO of Fintecna.
Between 1998 and 2002 he was Deputy Director General and then Director General of RAI.
After holding the position of Consap CEO in 2002, he was again appointed Director General of RAI in 2006, a position he held until April 2009.
From 2010 to 2013 he was Managing Director and President of Rai World.
From December 2009 to December 2014 he was Vice President of the European Television Union (EBU / UER).
Since April 2016, he’s been Secretary General of COPEAM (Conferenza Permanente dell’Audiovisivo Mediterraneo), an association that brings together all broadcasters of the Mediterranean region.
In the scientific field, he is in charge of a Master in “Business and Management of Media Companies” at the Faculty of Business of the University of Tor Vergata and, for some years, he has been holding a semester Master course in “Public Affairs” at SciencesPo (Paris) on “Public Service Media in Europe”.
He also held the position of Chairman of the TV Producers Association (2005), Independent Board Member of the “Roma Tre” University and is a Board Director of various companies.
In May 2018 he was appointed President of the JTI project (Journalism Trust Indicators), an initiative promoted by France Presse Agency, EBU/UER, Reporters sans Frontières and Global Editors Association, to promote the definition of international quality standards in the media.
