Headed by Riccardo Tozzi, Giovanni Stabilini and Francesca Longardi, Cattleya for over twenty years has proved to be one of the most successful production companies in the Italian audiovisual industry, having produced more than 70 films and numerous television series.
Creative factors such as collaboration with major talents and production partners in Italy and abroad, experimentation, and diversification of genres – from crime (Romanzo Criminale) to teen (Tre metri sopra il Cielo/Three Steps Above Heaven), from melodrama (Non ti muovere/Don’t Move) to comedy (Benvenuti al Sud/Welcome to the South) – have always distinguished Cattleya’s output, winning it recognition as one of the most outstanding leaders in the Europewide industry. Furthermore, films such as Bestia nel cuore (Don’t Tell, nominated for an Oscar as best foreign film), Io non ho paura (I’m not afraid), Mio fratello è figlio unico (My Brother is an Only Child), and Terraferma have enjoyed worldwide distribution, while TV series such as Gomorrah, Suburra, and Petra have succeeded in revolutionizing the serial narrative and in attracting cult followings.
More recently, two series, Citadel: Diana and Inganno (Deceitful Love), have gained unprecedented success both in Italy and internationally.
In 2001, the adjunct Kickout Films was established, covering every aspect involving the music and soundtracks of the films and TV series the company produces.
Moreover, Cattleya is not limited to films and TV series. Since 2009, with the creation of think|cattleya, Cattleya has entered the advertising market, quickly rising to become one of the top Italian production companies in that field. In addition, since 2016, it has also begun offering an executive service for foreign productions that opt to come and shoot in Italy.
Cattleya is part of the ITV group, the largest production and distribution company in the United Kingdom.
Most recently, Cattleya has announced the formation of Moontrip, a new production company – developed in collaboration with writers Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli – with a focus on genre productions specializing in research and innovation.
